Diwali sweets at Peppermill

Diwali sweets at Peppermill The best thing I remember about Diwali from my childhood in Fiji Islands was the amazing array of sweets my fathers clients used to send home and the numerous parties we went to. Since living in Kuala Lumpur and UAE, Diwali certainly was a toned down affair until I discovered the absolutely delightful diwali sweets at Peppermill Restaurant – they have branches both in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Leading up to the Indian festival of lights, Diwali, the fine dining Peppermill Restaurant has lined up a feast of Indian favourites that includes a flavorful array of … Continue reading Diwali sweets at Peppermill

Explore Clumber Park

This summer, little diva got introduced to some serious nature by her paternal aunt and Uncle….at Clumber Park which is set on the old country estate of the Dukes of Newcastle and is home to beautiful avenues, plants, wildlife and an amazing picturesque trail for walking. We walked through gardens, woodlands, light forests and NJD even had a Winnie the Pooh moment throwing twigs in the river and watching them come on the other end of a bridge over a waterfall. We took photos of the chapel, a masterpiece of gothic revival, standing tall in grandeur of the past. NJD … Continue reading Explore Clumber Park

Moon Jars

Because one of the best routes to get to Fiji these days is via Korea, Tash and I have had the opportunity to see moon jars of Korea a number of times…the first time was when we had a couple of nights in Seoul where we experience the first snow Seoul had in years and our first sighting of a moon jar. More recently, we saw a really good moon jar exhibition in London at the Korean Cultural Centre. (Actually it will be there until the 17th of August 2013). The moon jar is a vessel shaped albeit like the moon … Continue reading Moon Jars

Afternoon Tea with Jimmy Choo in Hong Kong

First let me clarify that I still have mixed feelings about Jimmy Choo….my sexy red heels remain uncomfortable the last I felt it but I still love the white bag, which for Choo, is NOT BAD since I normally use Luis Vuitton as a benchmark. However, I am delighted with the look of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental and the MO Bar at the hotel, which also looks beautiful in photos, has organised its latest fashion tea in collaboration with Jimmy Choo. Jimmy Choo shoes and handbags are often worn by style icons around the world, from celebrities to royalty, and … Continue reading Afternoon Tea with Jimmy Choo in Hong Kong

Black Truffles return to Pregos

A few weeks ago I spent a decent hour reading about one man’s journey on cultivating truffles and how much of a cavorted commodity it has become amongst the world’s foodies who scramble to get the premium and crème of the crop…usually from Italy. Then I get news from Anita that the Black Truffle season is returned to Prego’s, coming all the way from Italy…Pregos (at Media Rotana) is of course my dining house of choice when I have skipped lunch and have a chance to eat on the way home post my workout….its one of few nice places that open at 6.00pm. Divas…and others of course others.. can celebrate the legendary Black Truffle … Continue reading Black Truffles return to Pregos
